GLOBAL SURGERY AMSTERDAM
Global Surgery Amsterdam (GSA) is an international research and education institute dedicated to improving access to safe and essential surgical care in low- and middle-income countries. Through research, education, technology development, and long-term international partnerships, the organisation develops sustainable solutions that strengthen local surgical capacity and support healthcare professionals worldwide.
Established in the Netherlands as Stichting Global Surgery Amsterdam, GSA is a not-for-profit foundation with ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation) status, recognising its commitment to serving the public interest.
CONCEPT
For Global Surgery Amsterdam, I developed a fundraising poster campaign and the organisation's Annual Activity Report as parts of one cohesive visual communication system. The project establishes a consistent visual identity across multiple print formats.
GOAL
To create a cohesive print communication system that helps the organisation communicate its mission, programmes, and global impact through clear, accessible, and carefully structured visual communication.
PROJECT SCOPE
The project included campaign poster design, editorial design, information design, photo editing, map layouts, print production, and digital publication.
ANNUAL REPORT
The 2025 Annual Activity Report was designed to communicate Global Surgery Amsterdam's work, impact, and educational programs through a clear and accessible editorial system.

EDITORIAL DESIGN
The report combines editorial design, photography, information design, and infographics to communicate complex healthcare topics in a clear, accessible, and engaging way.
A structured grid system was developed to accommodate diverse content, supported by a consistent typographic hierarchy across long-form articles, patient stories, maps, statistics, photography, and educational programmes, while maintaining a clear and consistent reading experience.
INFORMATION DESIGN
Complex information was translated into clear visual structures through maps, diagrams, statistics, and infographics designed to support readability rather than distract from the content.
STORY THROUGH DESIGN
Alongside data and programme information, the publication highlights the people behind Global Surgery Amsterdam's work. Documentary photography and patient stories create a visual narrative that balances evidence with human experience, reinforcing the organisation's mission through authentic storytelling.
FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
To complement the editorial publication, a fundraising campaign was developed using the same visual language. The posters translate the organisation's mission into clear, accessible messages designed for public engagement.
